A Huge Gastric Diverticulum associated with Occult G-¥° Bkeeding

Abstract
The diverticulum of the stomach is an unusual anomaly of the upper gastrointestinal tract. The first case of diverticula of stomach was reported by Baillie in 1973, since that time a total 489 cases had been reported by 1958.
The gastric diverticula are usually symptomless and that usually discovered incidentally during Xray and endoscopic examination. The situation of gastric diverticula was most often at the cardia and next most often at the pylorus.
The cardiac diverticula are usually not associates( with other disease, whereas diverticula located outside the cardia frequently are associated with intragastric disease.
There is little indication for surgery. If the symptoms are severe or if th 3 diagnosis of malignancy or complicated peptic ulcer can not be excluded surgical intervention is recommended
A child, 16 years of age, entered The Jeonbug National University Medical Hospital because of epigastric distress, weakness, anemia, tarry stool and elevation of body temperature during the previous 13 years.
On exploration, inflammed diverticulum, 6cm. in greatest diameter, was found on the posterior wall of the fundus and was adherent to the- splenic bed. The duodenal ulcer was also identified. The diverticulum was resected with splenectomy and also antrectomy and truncal vagotomy was performed for the duodenal ulcer.
The diagnosis of ture diverticulum was confirmed pathologically.
The postoperative course was uneventful.
With review of literatures, this is a clinical report for the true diverticulum arising in the posterior wall of the fundus of the stomach associated with diverticulitis, occult G-I bleeding and duodenal ulcer.
